The idea for medikit was born on a ski tour when hotelkit founder Marius Donhauser had a conversation with a dentist friend. During their discussion, the dentist shared his struggle to find suitable collaboration software for medical practices, highlighting a significant gap in the market. It quickly became apparent that healthcare organizations face challenges similar to those faced by the hospitality industry, particularly regarding efficient teamwork and communication. Like hotel employees, healthcare professionals often work in shifts and do not have personal email addresses. Yet, they must meet high-quality standards to provide exceptional care to their guests or patients.
Marius Donhauser recognized the immense potential of adapting the proven hotelkit software specifically for the healthcare sector. To bring this ambitious vision to life, he teamed up with his longtime friend and healthcare expert, Dr. Johannes Gebauer. As a certified ISO auditor with extensive experience in medical operations, Dr. Gebauer brought key industry knowledge to the project. Together, they developed a groundbreaking solution tailored specifically to the needs of healthcare and social care providers.
The official launch of medikit as a standalone brand took place in 2014, positioning the brand as a trusted solution in the industry. Since then, more than 3,800 customers of various sizes and specialties across the medical and social care sectors have placed their trust in the platform to streamline internal processes and enhance team collaboration.
