“What makes medikit stand out is the personal commitment to listening to customers and truly responding to their needs.”
Univ. Doz. Dr. Matthias Hohlrieder
Senior Consultant & Anesthesiologist
LKH Feldkirch
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the state hospital Feldkirch introduced the medikit platform to improve team collaboration and streamline the high volume of daily information exchange. In just a short time, the anesthesia and intensive care teams were able to significantly optimize their internal processes using medikit. A recent staff survey offers insights into how medikit is being used and perceived in day-to-day work.
medikit rollout with hands-on training
The rollout of medikit in the anesthesia and intensive care unit began with an on-site training session in November 2021. During this session, practical use cases were developed together. Today, the app is used for team communication, information sharing, appointment coordination, scheduling, shift replacements, and managing SOPs and other essential documents.
Survey insights: How the team rates medikit
One year after implementation, a staff survey was conducted to assess overall acceptance of medikit regarding user satisfaction, ease of use, and the support experience. The results speak for themselves and clearly highlight the added value medikit brings:
Easy to use and quick to learn
Ease of use scored an impressive 8.35 out of 10, while learnability rated even higher at 9.09. That score includes older team members who, as Dr. Hohlrieder notes, don’t consider themselves particularly tech-savvy. Markus Schmidt, Unit Manager for the ICU, adds that training new staff to use medikit takes just a few minutes.
High acceptance and outstanding support
medikit received a strong 8.7 out of 10 for user acceptance. Dr. Matthias Hohlrieder points out that medikit’s customer support played a key role in choosing it over alternatives like Microsoft products.
Reduced workload and more transparency
medikit scored 8.32 out of 10 for making day-to-day work easier and 8.46 for improving information transparency. Digital checklists, like those used in the trauma bay and the ability to manage last-minute shift changes through medikit have greatly reduced stress and made team coordination much smoother.
Location-independent access combined with centralized knowledge and communication
The medikit app’s mobile availability received a top score of 9.18. It’s especially helpful for a large team with varied shifts, part-time roles, and limited opportunities for in-person updates, particularly in a fast-paced department like anesthesia. The combination of sharing knowledge, through SOPs in the Handbook, and effective communication via a single platform was also rated highly, with a score of 8.71 out of 10. This motivates staff to use medikit regularly and creates stronger engagement than any traditional intranet ever could.
Conclusion
The results of the staff survey speak for themselves: The anesthesia and intensive care teams at LKH Feldkirch gave medikit exceptionally high marks. The findings confirm that introducing medikit two years ago was a smart and impactful decision. The strong ratings across multiple categories highlight its value and effectiveness, especially when it comes to implementing standard operating procedures, protecting data integrity, and streamlining workflows.
